Scott Bradlee’s vision of combining together music from vaudeville to doo wop to Millennial angst is well reflected on this latest release. To paraphrase Guys and Dolls, Bradlee has created the oldest established permanent floating” song machine, mixing and matching singers, musicians and style.

The song selection is brilliant in selection and performance. A take of David Bowie’s synthesized “Heroes” here has Nicole Atkins’ vibrato joined by piano in a dramatic fashion, while Fabian-inspired Kenton Chen croons on “Closer.” A strong Morgan James goes tour de force on Aerosmith’s “Dream On” and early vintage swing is two stepping instead of Moonwalking on Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Doo Wop nostalgia by Robyn Adele Anderson and The Tee Tones have a go of “Timber” and the whole team gets on stage for the ultimate hipster read of “All About The Bass.” Music and moxie!
